The UGA Athlete-to-Medicine Program
Dawgs to Docs is a one-year program designed to support University of Georgia student-athletes in exploring and pursuing careers in medicine. The program recognizes that student‑athletes bring distinctive strengths—discipline, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and performance under pressure—that translate into success in medical school and clinical practice.
Through structured mentorship, clinical exposure, academic support tailored to athletic schedules, and intentional professional development, Dawgs to Docs provides a guided pre-med pathway and the opportunity to be a competitive applicant for admission to the University of Georgia School of Medicine upon successful completion of program requirements.

Georgia Grown Physicians Program
The Georgia Grown Physicians (GGP) program is a two-year early assurance program designed for Georgia residents from communities across the state who are committed to serving the healthcare needs of Georgia. Through a combination of structured mentorship, community-based clinical exposure, and curated academic support, GGP students explore the rewards and challenges of medical practice within their home communities while preparing for success at the University of Georgia School of Medicine.
The program provides early assured admission to the UGA School of Medicine upon fulfillment of matriculation requirements, offering exceptional opportunities for students with deep roots in Georgia to become physicians who understand, train with, and serve the communities that shaped them. Because of the nature of the early assurance program, students should be aware that they are committing to the University of Georgia School of Medicine.
