
Michelle “Shelley” Nuss
Founding Dean
Dr. Michelle Nuss, founding dean of the UGA School of Medicine and the campus dean of Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership, has decades of medical education experience to her name. Her expertise has been coveted for articles, research, and studies, and she has presented at conferences and lectures nationwide. In her commitment to addressing Georgia’s ongoing physician shortage, Nuss has served as chair for the Board of Regents’ GME Regents Evaluation and Assessment Team committee, which supported the development of nine new teaching hospitals, 31 new residency programs, and nearly 800 new resident positions across the state. Nuss is also currently serving as Chair of the Medical Education Advisory Committee for the Georgia Board for Healthcare Workforce that advises the board on medical education issues in the state of Georgia.
