The guiding mission of the Office of Student Affairs at UGA SOM is to provide individualized support for our students. Every UGA SOM student will meet one-on-one with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Academic Success, Financial Aid, and with their Head of House during the first semester of medical school to set the foundation for rich and rewarding longitudinal relationships. Our multilayered and multifaceted approach is centered on helping our students discover their personal and professional mission and develop the skills to successfully navigate becoming a physician.
Houses
On your very first day of orientation, you discover in the House Reveal which of the five UGA SOM Houses will be your community within the community. The five Houses, named in honor of five regions of Georgia, are not simply social groupings. They will serve as your home base, led by Head of House faculty who are dedicated to your development and success from your first day of Anatomy to Match and beyond. You will go from Lil’ Dawg to Big Dawg with mentorship and service opportunities within your House.

Academic Support
Academic Support is the cornerstone of helping students progress successfully through the rigor of the medical school curriculum and USMLE (Step 1 and Step 2) exams.
