School of Medicine receives UGA Foundation grant

The University of Georgia School of Medicine recently received a grant from the UGA Foundation’s inaugural Grants Program totaling over $73,000. The grant was awarded to the School of Medicine in March by the UGA Foundation Board of Trustees.

The School of Medicine’s project and proposal, the Georgia Medical Education Collaborative Summit, was awarded the inaugural grant for its “potential to enhance the educational experience of students and promote academic excellence at the University of Georgia”.

The Georgia Medical Education Collaborative Summit, proposed to take place in 2026, would bring medical schools and healthcare organizations together from across the state with goals to facilitate collaboration, generate actionable ideas, and establish Georgia as a leader in medical education and healthcare innovation.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to explore how we can collectively use our strengths to positively impact the health of Georgians,” School of Medicine Founding Dean Shelley Nuss and Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Erica Brownfield said in the application letter.
