The University of Georgia has a mission to advance the health of our communities, in Georgia and beyond. As a state-supported medical school, preference is given to Georgia residents and applicants who have a tie to Georgia. Applicants not from Georgia and have no tie to Georgia should show some connection and understanding of healthcare in the State of Georgia, how their experience aligns with a medical school in Georgia, and how they align with the mission of the School of Medicine.
Applicants must submit an application online through the American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®), a centralized medical school application processing service from the Association for American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Applicants who meet the Secondary Application requirements will be sent the secondary application.
The Secondary Application has an application fee of $75. Applicants who are approved
A complete application to the medical school includes the following:
• AMCAS Application
• UGA SOM Secondary Application with $50 application fee (or fee waiver)
• MCAT Exam (taken within the past three years)
• Letters of recommendation (3-5)
• Proof of official permanent residency status, if not a US Citizen
• Completion (or imminent completion prior to matriculation) of a baccalaureate degree
• Completion (or imminent completion prior to matriculation) of the prerequisite courses
