A timeline during a full application cycle

 

MCAT Administration

• Early Decision Program (EDP): Must take the MCAT by mid-July

• Regular Decision: Must take the test within three years of applying (2023, 2024, or 2025 to matriculate in 2026)

 

Application Process

• May – AMCAS application available online

• June – AMCAS application submission begins

• August 1 – Last date to submit AMCAS application for EDP (July 1 strongly encouraged)

• August 15 – EDP file completion deadline

 

Interview & Notification Timeline

• Mid-September – EDP interviews

• October 1 – EDP decision notification

• October 15 –

◦ Last date to submit AMCAS application for Regular Decision (September 1 strongly encouraged)

• October – January – Regular decision interviews

• November 15 – Deadline for completion of Regular Decision application file

• Mid-February – AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool becomes available to accepted applicants

• March 15 – issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class

 

Acceptance & Enrollment Protocols

• February – Applicants holding one or more acceptance offers can select “Plan to Enroll”

• April 15 – Accepted applicants holding more than three acceptances must narrow their choices to three medical schools and withdraw from all others

• April 30 – AMCAS “Commit to Enroll” option becomes available, applicants should only hold one offer of admission

• July 6 – Deadline to select “Commit to Enroll” for UGA School of Medicine (failure to do so will result in withdrawal of acceptance, 21 days prior to orientation)

 

Matriculation

• Late-July – Mandatory new student orientation

• August – Classes begin
