At the University of Georgia School of Medicine, we train doctors who have the skills and knowledge to make a difference in Georgia and beyond. Our curriculum will prepare you to be a problem solver, an excellent clinician, and a champion for your patients.

The curriculum of the University of Georgia School of Medicine is designed to prepare students for a lifetime of clinical practice, while staying deeply connected to the health of Georgia’s people and communities. Students learn through small-group, case-based experiences that emphasize teamwork, problem-solving, and clinical reasoning. Starting in their first year, students engage in clinical learning, integrating foundational sciences with clinical medicine. The curriculum stresses clinical excellence, professional identity formation, and service learning. Our dedicated faculty prioritize student success and are accessible for academic guidance and mentoring throughout the curriculum. Clinical clerkships and fourth-year electives follow a distributed model across Northeast Georgia, offering exposure to a wide array of practice settings and patient populations.
